Most winter getaways tend to split their time between two camps. They’ll often choose between a white or sun-filled cabin, and they’ll also split their time between various activities such as cooking and drinking whiskey. If you’re planning on traveling during the winter season, there are a variety of great ways that you can take advantage of the break.

Gstaad, Switzerland

Europe has plenty of glamorous ski towns that are known to attract high-net-worth individuals. One of these is Gstaad, which is a beautiful resort town in Switzerland that’s known for its old-world charm. It’s also been a favorite of the Monegasque royals, such as Tatiana Santo Domingo and Andrea Casiraghi. If you’re planning on staying in the area, the only place that you’ll want to stay is the Gstaad Palace, which has been owned and operated by the same family since 1913.

Lake Placid, New York

If you’re planning on visiting the Whiteface Lodge in the beautiful Lake Placid area, you’ll want to make sure that you check out its various features. These include its beautiful fireplaces, 80 trails, and warm homemade cookies at its turndown. After a day in the snow, you can enjoy whiskey flights and other refreshments by the fire.

Raton, New Mexico

Media mogul Ted Turner is one of the largest private landowners in the US, with over 2 million acres of land. Unlike the patriarch of Yellowstone National Park, he doesn’t mind sharing his property. One of his properties is the Vermejo Reserve, which is located in Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado. This property is the largest of his hospitality brands.

The property is known for its conservation efforts, which include protecting the Rio Grande cutthroat trout and American bison. It also has five-star accommodations and a world-class spa.

The Dolomites, Italy

The Dolomite mountains are known for their beautiful views. In 2009, they were designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the most charming Alpine villages is San Cassiano, which is located underneath the peaks of the Rosa Alpina. The hotel became an Aman partner last year. This means that you’ll be able to expect the same high-quality services and facilities that you’d expect from a well-known hotel brand.

Riviera Maya, Mexico

Contrary to popular belief, the Riviera Maya is not as close to Cancun as it sounds. At Mayakoba, which is an eco-resort development, you’ll find four luxury hotels, including the highly regarded Mayakoba. All of these accommodations have private plunge pools and are located within lush mangroves. Suites are also available, with either oceanview or two- or three-story options.
